In Short
The Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team fought a defensive battle with the Bradley Braves for the second time this season, resulting in another scoreless draw. The Ramblers move to 8-3-2, (3-1-2 MVC) while the Braves shift to 4-5-4 (3-3-2).
Coach Neil Jones Thoughts'
"Road games in the Valley are always difficult and tonight was no different," Jones said. "While we defended well, we weren't sharp enough in the final third which is where games are won and lost. That being said, both teams battled hard and we earned our point. Now we must prepare for Drake on Sunday."
How It Happened
The Ramblers defense prevented the Braves from any shot attempts in the first half, out-shooting Bradley 8-0. Loyola's first shot in the fifth minute was on goal from
Marius Kullmann, who saw an opportunity just outside the box. In the 34th minute,
Billy Hency came close as he sent the ball slightly wide of the outside post.
Tyler Biggs also notched a shot on goal in the 37th minute but it was saved by Bradley goalkeeper Nathan Wisbey.
Bradley came out stronger at the beginning of the second half, recording both of their shots on goal in the 47th and 51st minute.
Marcel Kampman was able to notch both saves which would lead to his fifth shutout of the season.
Both teams combined for seven fouls in the first overtime and wouldn't take another shot attempt until the 107th minute, when
Aidan Megally had the best chance for the game-winner. Megally took the lone shot attempt in overtime straight on from outside the box, but Wisbey was there to get the save.
