Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team (8-3-2, 3-1-2 MVC) will return home Sunday, Oct. 27 to host the Drake Bulldogs. Prior to the 1 p.m. kick-off, this year's senior class of
Marius Kullmann,
Aidan Megally,
Chase Wright and student manager Jeff Williams will be honored in a pre-game ceremony.
Last Time Out: The Ramblers played yet another all-out defensive battle against Bradley on Wednesday night. The teams played to a scoreless draw despite Loyola taking advantage in shot opportunities, 12-4 and shots on goal, 4-2. Goalkeeper
Marcel Kampman registered two saves and picked up his fifth shutout of the season.
vs. Drake: Drake (7-7, 4-4 MVC) fell to Valparaiso, 3-1 on Wednesday night. Leroy Enzugusi scored the first goal in the 22nd minute but Valpo responded with the next three consecutive goals. Drake out-shot Valpo, 14-4 and both teams put four shots on target. Enzugusi leads the Bulldogs with six goals, two assists and 19 shots on goal this season. Sophomore Goalkeeper Luke Anderson was named MVC Defensive Player of the Week last week after recording three saves in Drake's 2-0 win over Evansville on Oct. 19. Anderson leads the conference in shutouts per game (.462) and has tallied an MVC-best six shutouts. Drake was named third in the 2019 MVC Preseason Poll following a 7-7-3 (1-3-2) campaign last season under head coach Gareth Smith, who is in his fifth season at the helm for the Bulldogs.
Series Stuff: Loyola and Drake will square off for the 18th time after their last meeting at Drake on Sept. 29. The Ramblers defeated the Bulldogs, 2-1 in double overtime as Megally tallied both goals including the game-winner. He was later named MVC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance.
Up Next: Loyola will play its final home match of the regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 30 against Evansville. Kick-off is set for 6 p.m.
