Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Loyola Breezes By Northwestern, 2-0

For the second match in a row, Aidan Megally notches both goals for the Ramblers

In Short
The Loyola University Chicago mens soccer team won their third straight on the road as they defeated Northwestern, 2-0 on Wednesday night at Martin Stadium. Aidan Megally scored two goals for the second match in a row to lead the Ramblers to victory.

Coach Neil Jones' Thoughts
"It was a big win for us tonight against a good Northwestern team," Jones said. "Big Ten team on the road, that's always a difficult challenge but the boys were up for it tonight and we played very hard. Aidan with another two goal performance was huge and I'm proud of the shutout on the road. We felt like we had a good game plan coming in. We've been on a bit of a break here and to get an early goal like that rewards the guys for that. Northwestern's a great team and a great program, they play in a great conference so it was a good job by the guys. I'm really proud of us and we're looking forward to Valpo on Saturday."

How It Happened
The Ramblers took off quick as Megally snatched his fifth goal of the season just five minutes into the first half. Loyola stayed strong on both ends of the spectrum in the first half, preventing the Wildcats from putting up any shots. Loyola tabbed two shots in the first half, both from Megally.

Northwestern's Tyler Seager took the Wildcats first shots in the second half, trying to take advantage of back-to-back opportunities in the 52nd and 54th minute. Seager then received a red card in the 57th minute after colliding with goalkeeper Marcel Kampman.

Loyola would continue to push for a chance at the win, with a shot on goal from Liam Woehrle in the 79th minute that slid into the hands of Northwestern goalkeeper Robbie White. Just a minute later, Megally found the back of the net again off an assist from Alex Moskal. Megally would try for the hat trick in the 87th minute, but White made the save.
