Loyola Opens Busy Week With Tuesday Night Tilt At Chicago State

Ramblers off to first 3-0 start since 2011-12

CHICAGO (November 18, 2019) – Winners of its first three games of the 2019-20 season, Loyola University Chicago will look to match its best start through four games in program history on Tuesday night when it heads south to the Jones Convocation Center for a 7 p.m. matchup with Chicago State.

LAST TIME OUT
Loyola dug itself out of an early nine-point hole as it eased its way to a 67-51 triumph over Eastern Illinois last Wednesday at Lantz Arena in Charleston, Ill.  Janae Gonzales paced a trio of Ramblers to score in double figures in the victory, knocking down seven of her 12 three-point attempts as part of a 24-point effort.

LOYOLA – CHICAGO STATE – THE SERIES
Loyola holds a 19-4 (.826) record in 23 previous meetings against Chicago State.  The Ramblers picked up their eighth straight win over their rival to the south last season at Gentile Arena, cruising to 76-40 victory behind a game-high 17 points from Allison Day.

HERE COME THE COUGARS
Chicago State enters the week still in search of its first win of 2019-20.  The Cougars, who were tabbed ninth in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Preseason Poll, currently sit at 0-4 following a 98-70 home setback to Oakland.  Second-year head coach Misty Opat's team is led by the pairing of Kourtney Crane and Tyeshia Bowers.  Crane averages a team-best 17.5 points, while Bowers, who led Chicago State in scoring last season (12.3 ppg), has added 16.0 points across her three appearances, highlighted by a 24-point showing in a season-opening loss to Illinois.

UP NEXT
Loyola faces a quick turnaround as it battles Kansas City at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 22 in Kansas City, Mo.
