CHICAGO (November 6, 2019) – Cameron Krutwig (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs), a junior center on the Loyola University Chicago men's basketball team, has been named to the 2019-20 Lou Henson Award Preseason Watch List, it was announced today. The 6-foot-9 post player was selected as the 2019-20 Missouri Valley Conference Preseason Player of the Year.

The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the nation's top Division I mid-major player and during the 2017-18 season, when Loyola captured the hearts of America with its magical run to the NCAA Final Four, Ramblers guard
Clayton Custer took home the honor. The award honors Henson, the former Illinois and New Mexico State head coach who won 775 games in 41 seasons. Henson is he winningest coach in Illinois basketball history with 423 victories and during 21 seasons (1975-96) with the Fighting Illini, he led the program to 16 postseason appearances.

Krutwig got the 2019-20 campaign off to a rousing start last night, scoring 15 points, dishing out a career-best 11 assists and grabbing eight rebounds, in the Ramblers' 82-48 victory over UC Davis. Last season, the big man posted impressive all-around numbers, contributing 14.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.0 blocks per game on his way to First Team All-MVC accolades, while also finishing third in the MVC Player of the Year voting.

The 2019-20 Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award will be announced in April 2020 in Atlanta, site of the Final Four.
