CHICAGO (March 14, 2019) – Entering the weekend one game back of first place in the MIVA standings, the Loyola University Chicago men's volleyball team heads to Neil Carey Arena for a Friday night tilt at Lewis. Round two with the Flyers will begin at 7 p.m. The contest in Romeoville, Ill. kick-starts the second portion of conference play and marks the midway point of the current road trip. The Ramblers' 6-1 record marks the second consecutive season the team posted that record through their first seven MIVA matches.

Last Time Out: Loyola dropped both contests at Grand Canyon in five sets (March 8-9). The stretch was the first time the team played back-to-back five-set contests since Jan. 19-21, 2017. A pair of milestones were reached in Friday's outing. Helped by a match-high 19 kills, Will Tischler notched his 500th career kill, along with Avery Aylsworth picking up career dig number 500. The libero logged 15 digs in that outing to set a new personal season high. Tischler finished the weekend with 21 kills to eclipse 200 in a season for the first time in his career.

A Look at the Flyers: Lewis took care of business in both matches since the March 1 contest at Gentile, defeating both Princeton (March 9) and NJIT (March 11) in straight-sets. The MIVA's first place team logged 15 aces, 10 at Princeton, over the course of the two matches to maintain the conference's best service ace per set average at 1.82. The double-digit aces against the Tigers marked the fourth time the Flyers have recorded 10-plus serves that hit the floor in a match this season. Lewis also boasts the two highest individual attack percentages. Tyler Mitchem leads the list at .524, up from .515 since the first Loyola-Lewis matchup. T.J. Murray is right behind him at .485. The Barrington, Illinois, native registered a 10-0-13 attack stat line in the Flyer's two non-conference matches since the Ramblers last saw him.

Series Stuff: Friday night is the 60th all-time meeting between Loyola and Lewis, with the Ramblers' edge now at 35-24. LUC enters Friday with a 15-12 advantage in Neil Carey Center, including victories in three of the last four matches. Two of the top offensive performances in program history came against their rival from the south – A 43-kill outing by Dan Schultz in 1998 and another 43-kill match by Ted Groves two years later. Brian Cremascoli tallied 119 assists in the 1998 matchup to set the school's single-match record for helpers.

Up Next: The Maroon and Gold wrap up their longest road stretch of the season with a pair of tilts in Indiana against Ball State (March 21) and Purdue Fort Wayne (March 23). The Thursday night contest against the Cardinals is set for 6 p.m. CT, while the Ramblers and Mastodons square off at 4 p.m. CT.
