CHICAGO (June 25, 2019) – Loyola University Chicago head men's golf coach
Erik Hoops announced the addition of Zach Walsh (Chesterfield, Mo./Chaminade College Preparatory) to his roster on Tuesday afternoon. Walsh, a native of Chesterfield, Mo., will join the Ramblers at the start of the 2019-20 academic year.
"We're looking forward to having Zach join our program this fall," Hoops commented. "He excels in both the classroom and on the golf course. Zach attended a powerhouse of a high school program that competed for state championships every year. He is a multi-sport athlete that is very athletic, so I have no doubt that once he focuses on one sport, he will see a huge improvement quite quickly."
Walsh enjoyed a standout career during his time at Chaminade College Preparatory in St. Louis, Mo. He helped lead the school to back-to-back second-place finishes at the Missouri Class 4A State Tournament as both a junior and senior, earning a runner-up finish this past season. Walsh also captured individual medalist honors at the 2018 Metropolitan Junior Amateur, carding a five-over-par 149 (75-74) at the Forest Hills Country Club.
Walsh joins the previously announced pairing of Timmy Crawford (Arlington Heights, Ill./Saint Viator) and Nolan Doherty (Arlington Heights, Ill./Saint Viator) to round out the Maroon & Gold's 2019 signing class. Hoops is also slated to return six letterwinners from last season when Loyola begins its 2019-20 slate in September.
