CHICAGO (July 16, 2019) – A pair of former Loyola University Chicago men's basketball standouts recently completed play at the NBA Summer League on the west coast. Guards Milton Doyle (Chicago, Ill./Marshall/Kansas) and
Marques Townes (Edison, N.J./Saint Joseph/Fairleigh Dickinson) had an opportunity to showcase their skills for NBA teams playing for the Sacramento Kings and Chicago Bulls, respectively.
Â
Doyle played in eight contests covering play in two cities – Sacramento and Las Vegas – putting up 7.0 points, 1.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 0.9 steals per game. His best outing was a 22-point effort against the Dallas Mavericks July 8 in Las Vegas. The 6-foot-4 Doyle knocked down 8 of 13 shots from the field, including 3-for-5 from three-point land, that night and also pitched in three rebounds, a pair of assists and a steal.Â
Â
Townes, the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year, appeared in one game for the Bulls, totaling two points and an assist in eight minutes of action against the New Orleans Pelicans July 8.
Â
Loyola has had at least one former player compete in NBA Summer League action in each of the last three years.
