Rebekah Strange Added To Women’s Volleyball Staff As Volunteer Assistant

Indiana native was the 2017 Atlantic-10 Libero of the Year

CHICAGO (August 12, 2019) – Rebekah Strange, the 2017 Atlantic-10 Conference Libero of the Year, has been added to the Loyola University Chicago women's volleyball staff as a volunteer assistant coach, Ramblers head coach Amanda Berkley announced today.

"We are excited to add Rebekah to our coaching staff," Berkley said. "Rebekah is a young and upcoming coach who had an outstanding playing career at VCU. With her playing history as a libero, Rebekah will focus on coaching the defense and help contribute to a competitive culture at Loyola."

The Avon, Indiana native had a spectacular career as a student-athlete at Virginia Commonwealth University, earning American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-East Region as a senior in 2017 after leading the A-10 in digs per set (5.00). She finished her collegiate career ranked third in VCU history with 1,812 digs and paced the Rams in total digs in each of her four seasons on the squad.

Success has followed Strange throughout her playing days. In 2017, she helped VCU to a NCAA tournament appearance and during her prep career was a key figure of Avon High School teams that won back-to-back Indiana Class 4A state championships (2012, 2013).

This will be Strange's introduction to the collegiate coaching ranks, although she does have experience as a coach for Richmond Volleyball Club.

Loyola returns four starters from last season's squad that posted the program's most wins since 2015. The Ramblers open the 2019 season with an exhibition contest at Green Bay August 24.
