The Loyola men's soccer team played to a 0-0 tie in its exhibition opener against the Marquette Golden Eagles on Saturday at Loyola Soccer Park.
How It Happened
Loyola's best scoring chance of the game came in the 70th minute as freshmanÂ
Nolan McGrath was able to get a look around Marquette's defense, but sent his shot high over the crossbar. Marquette's best opportunity came in the 79th minute when redshirt freshman Jett Blaschka connected to freshman Christian Marquez, who knocked a one-timer with his left foot from the edge of the 18-yard box that went wide off the far post.Â
All nine newcomers made their Loyola debut tonight, including graduate student
Marcel Kampman who started in goal, played 60 minutes and recorded three saves. Sophomore
Simon Jillson also saw 30 minutes at goalkeeper.
A Look At The Numbers
- Loyola registered five shots in the match, none of which were on goal.
- The Golden Eagles outshot the Ramblers, recording 16 shots, including three shots on goal. They also won the corner kick battle, 12-2.
