In Short
The Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team rolled past the DePaul Blue Demons, 4-2 on Friday night at Loyola Soccer Park. Sophomore
Billy Hency had himself a night, recording his first two goals of the season and an assist in the second half to secure a win for the Ramblers.
How It Happened
Justin Sukow notched his second goal in 2019 in the 30th minute off an assist from
Marius Kullmann, to put the Ramblers ahead 1-0 entering the second half.
Aidan Megally and Hency had back-to-back goals in the 76th and 77th minute to secure a 3-0 lead. Megally found the back of the net from about 20 yards out on an assist from Hency, followed by Hency chipping the ball over goalkeeper Drew Nuelle for his first goal of the season.
DePaul would go on to answer with back-to-back goals in the 81st and 82nd minute from Max de Bruijne, who scored the first off a corner kick and the second straight down the middle. But, it was Hency who had the last word with four minutes to go, as Sukow had a set piece that was sent across the box to Hency for the win.
A Look At The Numbers
- Loyola out-shot DePaul 12-7, including three shots on goal from Hency and Megally.
- The match took on a physical tone as the Ramblers received three yellow cards and the Blue Demons received one.
- DePaul only registered two shots on goal, which ended up being the only goals tallied for the Blue Demons.
