CHICAGO (September 20, 2019) – The Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team will welcome conference foe and undefeated Missouri State to Loyola Soccer Park for a 1 p.m. matinee on Sunday. The Ramblers are 8-0 at home since Sept. 7, 2018 and will look to upset the Bears, who are 5-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Last Time Out: A road victory over Evansville on Wednesday granted the Maroon & Gold a handful of firsts this season. The win marked the first conference win, first win on the road, and first collegiate goal for freshman
Liam Moore. Moore found the back of the net off an assist from senior
Marius Kullmann in the 35th minute. Junior
Justin Sukow also notched his third goal of the season to secure the 2-1 win for the Ramblers.
vs. Missouri State: Missouri State remains unbeaten in 2019 with wins over Santa Clara, Kansas City, Central Arkansas, Tulsa and Valparaiso. This is the first time the Bears have opened their season with five straight wins since 1995. As of Sept. 17, the Bears are one of 10 teams still sitting perfect in all of NCAA Division I. Led by head coach Jon Leamy in his 28th season, the Bears were named first in the MVC Pre-Season Poll following a 9-2-6 campaign. Junior Josh Dolling (10 goals, three assists in 2018) has already recorded four game-winners, which ties for first nationally.
Series Stuff: Loyola and Missouri State will meet for the 11th time on Sunday afternoon. The most recent match-up was Oct. 13, 2018, where the Ramblers defeated the Bears, 1-0 with the lone goal from Loyola's
Chase Wright in the 61st minute.
Up Next: The Ramblers are back at Loyola Soccer Park on Wednesday, Sept. 25 to square off against Bradley at 7 p.m.
