In Short
It was an all-out battle at Loyola Soccer Park on Wednesday night as the Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team and the Bradley Braves played to a scoreless draw in double overtime.
Coach Neil Jones' Thoughts
"Credit to Bradley for coming in here with a game plan and executing it," Jones said. "We're disappointed we didn't leave with three points but it was good to get back to a shut-out. We're just disappointed that we couldn't execute in the final third. We had a lot of opportunities, a lot of set pieces, a lot of corner kicks and we've got to be better in the final third to create and score chances to win games."
How It Happened
Loyola had numerous opportunities throughout the match to get on the scoreboard, but couldn't put the Braves away. Nearly the entire team had a shot attempt, as twelve Ramblers recorded at least one shot.
Aidan Megally led Loyola with eight shots, one of which was on goal in the second half. The Ramblers would continue to fight into the final minutes, as
Justin Sukow's corner found
Alex Moskal in the 106th minute. Moskal had an open look but fired the ball over the bar.
Marius Kullmann made a shot on goal attempt just seconds later, but it was saved by Bradley's goalkeeper.
A Look At The Numbers
- The Ramblers put up a season-high 25 shots against the Braves, who only totaled nine shots.
- Loyola set the Bradley opponent record for corner kicks in a game with 19, while the Braves had 2. Bradley is 4-1-2 all-time in the seven games it has surrendered at least 13 corners and 3-0-1 in the four games allowing at least 14 corners.
