CHICAGO (September 26, 2019) – Loyola University Chicago men's basketball student-athletes
Cameron Krutwig and
Lucas Williamson have received All-Missouri Valley Conference accolades from a variety of preseason publications that have been released in advance of the 2019-20 season.
Krutwig has been tabbed a Preseason All-MVC First Team selection by Athlon, Street & Smith's and Blue Ribbon Yearbook. In addition, Krutwig was hailed as the MVC Preseason Player of the Year by Blue Ribbon. The junior center was a First Team All-MVC and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) First Team All-District pick in 2018-19, finishing third in the MVC Player of the Year voting. Last winter, Krutwig produced 14.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.0 blocks per game, while leading The Valley with a .629 field goal percentage.
Meanwhile, Williamson was named to the MVC Preseason All-Defensive Team by Street & Smith's. Last season, the 6-foot-4 junior guard had his season interrupted twice due to injury, but still managed to average 8.8 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.7 apg and 1.6 steals per contest in 16 appearances.
Ninth-year Loyola head coach
Porter Moser returns three starters, including Krutwig and Williamson, from last year's squad that won 20 contests, captured a share of its second straight MVC regular-season title and earned a berth in the National Invitation Tournament.
Loyola officially opens the 2019-20 season November 5 when it hosts UC Davis.
