In Short
The Loyola University Chicago men's volleyball team swept Urbana, 3-0 tonight at home. The Ramblers advance their winning streak to two and move to 3-5 overall. Devin Joslyn led the Maroon & Gold with a career-high 13 kills, while Kyle Piekarski recorded 12 kills to guide Loyola to a season-high .469 attack percentage in the match.

How It Happened
Loyola set the tone for the match early in the first set, beginning with a 5-0 scoring run to lead 8-2. Joslyn and Kyle Piekarski each had four kills to push the Ramblers to a .667 attack percentage, their highest in a set all season. An ace from Luke Denton and Joslyn gave the Ramblers a comfortable 13-4 lead to force an Urbana timeout. The Ramblers maintained their energy to win set one, 25-12.

The Ramblers momentum carried into set two as Loyola dominated out of the gate with a 5-0 run that eventually became a 9-1 run. In due time, Loyola snagged a 10 point lead, 15-5 following two Andrew Lyons aces and a kill each from Ian Cowen and Piekarski. The Ramblers led by 12 points twice in the set and went on to a second set victory, 25-16.

Set three presented a bigger challenge as Urbana came out fighting. The teams were neck and neck for a larger part of the set, until the Ramblers took the largest lead, 18-14 from a Cowen ace. Joslyn powered the Ramblers with seven kills in the third set and they were able to shut it down, 25-19.
