CHICAGO (December 4, 2020) – The Missouri Valley Conference revealed today a reworked men's basketball league schedule for the 2020-21 season and teams will now be playing one another in a two-game series on back-to-back days at the same site. Loyola will raise the curtain on Valley play December 27 and 28 when it hosts in-state rival Illinois State.
Four straight road games kick off the first month of 2021 with a pair of showdowns at two-time defending MVC Championship winner Bradley (Jan 2 and 3). That begins a grueling stretch that will see head coach
Porter Moser's veteran squad play seven of nine games on the road. Following the trip to Peoria, Loyola wraps-up the four-game road trek with a pair of games at Drake (Jan. 9 and 10) before briefly returning home for two contests against preseason league favorite Northern Iowa (Jan. 16 and 17).
Loyola gets right back on the road for three consecutive tilts, opening that swing with a short trip to Valparaiso (Jan. 20) before making its longest trip of the year for back-to-back matchups at Missouri State (Jan. 30 and 31).
A weekend series with Evansville (Feb. 6 and 7) at the friendly confines of Gentile Arena, where the Ramblers have won 25 of their last 27 MVC affairs, opens the month of February and starts the homestretch that will see Loyola play five of its final seven outings in Rogers Park.
Following its final road trip of the regular season – to Indiana State on February 13 and 14 – Loyola hosts Valparaiso (Feb. 17) and Southern Illinois (Feb. 26 and 27) to close out Valley play. The 2021 MVC Championship is slated for March 4 through 7 at Enterprise Center in St. Louis,
Loyola is coming off a 21-win season in 2019-20 and returns all five starters from last season's squad, including First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference center
Cameron Krutwig, who ranked in the top five in the league last season in scoring (15.1), rebounding (8.1), assists (4.2) and field goal percentage (.563). The Ramblers have won 20 or more contests in each of the last three campaigns.
