Ramblers Dominate Day Two, Push Past Albany And Dartmouth

Loyola is now on a three-game win streak and moves to 10-4 this season.

Dominating day two, the Loyola University Chicago softball team pushed past Albany, 11-3 and Dartmouth, 3-0 on Saturday in Longwood, Florida at The Spring Games. The Ramblers are now on a three-game win streak and move to 10-4 this season.
 
How It Happened
 
Game One: Loyola 11, Albany 3
Loyola crushed the top of the first inning, as Madison Ebeling and Shannon McGee each doubled to start off the game. With Ebeling on third, Allyson Ivey was up to bat and reached on fielding error from Albany, allowing Ebeling and McGee to score. With a 2-0 lead, Katie Polaski walked and Ivey moved to second. Nova Sinskul then singled and Ivey scored. With two outs, Emily Borg walked and the Ramblers loaded the bases. Abbey Jacobsen then singled to score Sinskul and Polaski for a 5-0 lead.
 
In the top of the second, Loyola added one more to the board, as McGee singled and stole second and third. Ivey hit a sacrifice fly to right field and McGee came home for a 6-0 lead.
 
The Great Danes scored all their runs in the third, tripling with two on base and scoring from a Loyola fielding error.
 
In what would be the final inning, Emily Borg hit a two-run home run with Caitlin Engelking on base. With the bases loaded again, Ivey reached first on an Albany fielding error and was called out, but McGee, Ebeling and Shields were all able to score for the 11-3 victory.
 
Game Two: Loyola 3, Dartmouth 0
Loyola had a home run derby of their own, as Nova Sinskul and Shannon McGee each posted a home run this afternoon for the first time this season. Sinskul's home run came in the bottom of the second inning, after Katie Polaski walked, the sophomore came up and launched the ball to give Loyola a 2-0 lead.
 
McGee did the same later on, hitting the ball to far right field for a solo home run. Dartmouth was unable to get on the board, as sophomore Sydney Ruggles pitched all seven innings for a complete game, only allowing six hits and four walks, while striking out five batters. 
 
A Look At The Numbers
- Three Ramblers hit home runs, including Emily Borg, Shannon McGee and Nova Sinskul.
- Sinskul also tallied two runs, three hits and three RBI. 
- McGee registered four runs, three hits and one RBI. 
- Borg recorded two RBI, two hits and one run against Albany.
- Abbey Jacobsen had two hits and two RBI against Albany.
- The team's two home runs are the most in a game this season.
