CHICAGO (July 6, 2020) – Jordan Hicks, who played on the men's basketball team at Loyola University Chicago from 2008-2013, has signed a professional contract with Besancon Avenir Comtois in France. A 6-foot-6 guard/forward, Hicks played the 2019-20 season with Union Tours in France, averaging 8.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 24 contests.
Â
The 2020-21 campaign will be Hicks' eighth season of professional basketball in Europe since his graduation from Loyola in 2013. The Rochester, Minnesota native spent the 2018-19 season with Basket Esch in Luxembourg, where he put up some gaudy all-around figures, contributing 20.6 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.8 apg and 1.5 spg, while helping the squad to a second-place finish and a semifinal appearance in the Luxembourg League. He was tabbed Second Team All-Luxembourg League by Eurobasket.com that season.
Â
Hicks has also played for Union Rennes and Cherbourg in France during his professional career.
Â
While at Loyola, Hicks battled through numerous injuries to average 7.0 ppg and 3.6 rpg in 103 career games. He appeared poised for a big year in 2010-11 when he put up 11.7 ppg and 4.7 rpg over the first nine contests before an injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season.Â
Â
Hicks' best production in a full season came as a senior in 2012-13 when he averaged 9.0 ppg and 4.6 rpg, while pacing the Horizon League in three-point field goal percentage (.472) in league games. Rambler fans will never forget Hicks' two biggest games – a 23-point, eight rebound performance in a victory at No. 15 Butler in 2009 and his career-best, 26-point effort in an emotional Senior Day win against Cleveland State in 2013.
