Ramblers Look To Secure A Top Spot Against Bradley

Loyola only needs one more win to secure one of the top two spots in the MVC.

CHICAGO (Oct. 27, 2021) – The regular Missouri Valley Conference season continues on for the Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team (8-3-1, 5-1-1) as they host another conference matchup at Loyola Soccer Park on Wednesday, Oct. 27, against the Bradley University Braves (3-9-1, 2-5).

Both teams are coming off big wins from the weekend, but the Ramblers hope to come out on top and extend their winning streak to three.

Last Time Out: During Saturday's match against the Drake University Bulldogs, the Ramblers came out with a 3-0 win. Billy Hency opened up scoring in the 44th minute off a pass from Oscar Dueso to give Loyola the 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

From there, Fabian Becerra took over on offense as he scored the remaining two goals for the Maroon & Gold. The first came in the 61st from a deflection off Drake's goalkeeper as he saved a shot by Dueso while the other came in the 82nd minute off a pass from Hency.

Loyola registered the most shots in a game this season against the Bulldogs, putting up 24 shots compared to Drake's nine. The Ramblers also had more opportunities from the corner as they finished the night with seven compared to the Bulldogs' one.

Series Stuff: Loyola controls the history between these two teams with a 9-6-2 record. The last time these two teams faced off against one another was in Peoria on Sept. 29, when the Ramblers won 3-0 for their largest margin of victory over Bradley since their first competition back in 2008.

The Maroon & Gold is currently on a four-game winning streak against the Braves. The streak began after an MVC Championship win on Nov. 15, 2019, and has continued since then. This is the longest win streak the Ramblers have had against the Braves.

Jack Douglas and Pepe Mellado Alandi are the primary goal scorers for the Braves as they currently have three goals each. Douglas also added on three assists to give him nine points so far this season. Hency continues to be the force behind the Rambler offense with seven goals and seven assists for a total of 21 points.

On defense, the Ramblers look to be in a better position than the Braves. Loyola's Marcel Kampman currently has a .701 goals-against average while Bradley's starting goalkeeper, Bryce Logan, maintains a 1.491 GAA.

Up Next: The Ramblers will hit the road again for a Halloween matchup as they travel to SIU Edwardsville. Kickoff that day will be at 2 p.m.
