CHICAGO (Oct. 28, 2021) – Following an extensive first round process, Loyola University Chicago men's soccer senior
Billy Hency was named a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award, the organization announced today. To be eligible for this award, recipients must be classified as an NCAA senior student-athlete who has accolades both on and off the field of play.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
The reigning Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year continues to shine on the pitch for Loyola. Hency currently leads the conference in points, accumulating 24 after last night's 3-1 win over Bradley. He is currently on a six-game point-scoring streak as he has registered at least two points in the team's last six games.
Off the field, Hency is a supply chain management major who excels in the classroom, which shows through his CoSIDA Academic All-America award as well as by earning a spot on the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team. Not only that, but Hency also volunteers in the community with his team. One of the programs his team volunteered with last season was Common Cause Illinois, which helps register people to vote and participate in their local elections.
