Allison Day (Russellville, Ohio/Eastern) has been selected to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Tournament Team, it was announced following the completion of the league tournament today in Moline, Ill. Day is the first Rambler to be named to the All-Tournament Team since Loyola joined The Valley.
Day was terrific during Loyola's two appearances at TaxSlayer Center, averaging 18.5 points while shooting at a red-hot 62.5 percent (15-for-24) clip from the field. She also added 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.5 steals.
Out of Russellville, Ohio, Day turned in arguably one of the most complete performances of her career in Friday's thrilling 61-60 victory over third-seeded Illinois State in the quarterfinals of the MVC Championship. The 6-foot-1 forward poured in a career-high 23 points (10-13 FGs, 1-2 3FGs, 2-2 FTs) in addition to five rebounds, three assists, and a career-best four steals as Loyola booked its first semifinal-round appearance in program history. Day went on to finish with 14 points (5-11 FGs, 4-4 FTs), seven rebounds, an assist, and a steal in a 70-56 loss to eventual tournament champion Bradley in Saturday's semifinals.
Day has enjoyed a banner junior campaign for head coach
Kate Achter, leading Loyola in both scoring (11.6 ppg) and rebounding (6.5 ppg) en route to being named a First Team All-MVC honoree.
