Krutwig Signs Pro Contract With Antwerp Giants

Loyola all-time great was the 2021 MVC Player of the Year

CHICAGO (June 30, 2021) – Former Loyola University Chicago men's basketball player Cameron Krutwig (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) has signed a professional contract with the Antwerp Giants in the Euromillions League in Belgium. The 6-foot-9 center, who signed a contract with Antwerp, which finished the 2020-21 campaign with a 17-9 record in the Euromillions League, this week, was an Associated Press Third Team All-America, CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-America and Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year selection this season.

In four years at Loyola, Krutwig led the Ramblers to 99 wins, three MVC regular season championships, three postseason appearances, two trips to the NCAA Sweet 16 and a Final Four, while earning All-MVC honors four times, including three first-team selections.

Krutwig is coming off a season in which he helped Loyola to a 26-5 overall ledger and a school-record 16 conference wins. Loyola finished the year ranked No. 12 in the final Ferris Mowers Coaches Top 25 Poll and posted a victory over second-ranked Illinois in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, behind a huge performance from Krutwig, who totaled 19 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and four steals to send the Ramblers to the Sweet 16. This season, he contributed 15.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.1 blocks and 1.1 steals per game, while draining 57.4 percent of his field goal attempts.

The most versatile big man to wear a Loyola uniform, Krutwig is the only player in program history to rank in the school's top ten in scoring, rebounding and assists, finishing his career with 1,833 points, 944 rebounds and 373 assists. One of the most successful players in MVC history, he is also one of only four players in the league's storied annals to accumulate over 1,500 points, 800 rebounds and 300 assists, joining Oscar Robertson, Larry Bird and Hersey Hawkins.

Krutwig is one of seven players from Loyola's 2018 NCAA Final Four team to play professional basketball overseas, joining Clayton Custer (Poland), Donte Ingram (New Zealand, Netherlands), Aundre Jackson (Iceland, Ukraine, Cyprus), Ben Richardson (Poland, Czech Republic, Switzerland), Carson Shanks (Malta) and Marques Townes (Spain, Estonia).
