CHICAGO (August 12, 2021) – For the second time in as many seasons, Loyola University Chicago senior
Riley DeMeulenaere (Brookfield, Wis./Marquette High School) has been named Academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced on Thursday.

DeMeulenaere, who was recognized on the First Team after taking home Second Team honors a year ago, joins Mike Billish (1993-94) as just the second two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America selection in program history.

The Brookfield, Wis. product capped off his time in Rogers Park with a stellar final track & field campaign. DeMeulenaere put points on the board in both the 3,000m run (3
rd; 8:30.82) and distance medley relay (3
rd; 10:07.50) at the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championships, taking home All-Valley honors in both events.Â

In his final appearance with the Maroon & Gold, DeMeulenaere clocked a personal-best 9:00.37 in the 3,000m steeplechase at the MVC Outdoor Championships, securing a runner-up finish in the event.

A four-time MVC Scholar-Athlete selection for his career, DeMeulenaere is pursuing his master's degree in biochemistry after completing his bachelor's degree in biology last year.
