Moskal Tallies First Career Brace in Key League Win

Loyola knocked off La Salle 4-2 to remain unbeaten at home

CHICAGO (October 15, 2022)

In Short
Loyola University Chicago (6-2-4, 2-2-2 A-10) extended its home unbeaten streak to seven following Saturday's 4-2 victory over visiting La Salle (3-7-4, 2-2-2 A-10) on Alumni Day. Senior forward Alex Moskal recorded his first career brace with two goals in the second half, while redshirt-senior midfielder Billy Hency logged three points with one goal and one assist.

The Ramblers, who are now 6-0-1 at Loyola Soccer Park this season, improved to 4-1-0 against La Salle in the all-time series between the two teams.

How It Happened
Loyola dominated possession from the start, pouncing the Explorers with 15 shots on goal and 22 total shots overall.

The Ramblers got things going offensively near the seven-minute mark with a shot on target by junior defender Julian Cisneros, which set up a corner kick. Hency took the corner attempt and delivered a great chance in the box, as senior midfielder Oscar Dueso cleaned up a deflection for his fourth goal of the year.

In the 13th minute, La Salle found the equalizer after a perfect through-ball was slotted into the box for Nigel Buckley's sixth goal of the season.

From there, the Ramblers never let off the gas as the constant pressure in the attacking third caused a penalty to be whistled in the 25th minute. Hency stepped up and converted the try, which was the first PK attempt for Loyola this season, and marking Hency's team-leading fifth goal.

Moskal's two goals came quickly after halftime, including his first strike coming just 38 seconds into the period which proved to be the game-winner. Senior defender Andrew Mitchell slotted a perfect pass to sophomore forward John Gates on a rush to the box, where Gates crossed another pass on the ground to an oncoming Moskal with precision.

Moskal added his second goal after a cross from senior forward Fabian Becerra was knocked around in the box.

La Salle tacked on a late goal in the 83rd minute scored from close-range by Giammarco Rodio.
