YPSILANTI, Mich. (October 3, 2022) – After 36-holes, the Loyola University Chicago women's golf team currently sits in fourth place at the Shirley Spork Invitational. The day was highlighted by a hole-in-one by graduate student
Lorenza Martinez at the par-3 sixth hole in her second round.
The Ramblers opened play with a combined team score of 306, placing them in second place at the conclusion of round one. The team produced a 310 in the second round to give them a team 36-hole total of 616, placing them just one shot in front of Eastern Michigan (313-304=617). Central Michigan holds the event lead with a 597 (302-295).
Sophomore
Grace Suter paced the Ramblers on the leaderboard, carding an even-par 72 in her first round to help place her in a share of 4
th with a 148 (72-76). Junior
Abby Thielbar placed just outside the top-10, putting together a 152 (74-78) across both rounds to tie for 11
th. Sophomore
Jolie Brochu (80-77=157) had a three-stroke improvement in her second round to end up in a share of 29
th place while freshman
Adie Maki finished three strokes behind her with a 160 (T-39; 81-79). Martinez ended her day with a 162 (T-43; 80-82) while junior
Kate Meier rounded out the lineup as an individual, carding a 168 (85-83) to place in 57
th.
The Ramblers resume play on Tuesday morning, with a shotgun start beginning at 8:00 a.m. (CT).
