MURRAY, Ky. (March 11, 2022) – The Racer Classic hosted by Murray State University ended today for the Loyola University Chicago softball team as the Ramblers faced the Racers in one game. Even though the game was close between these two teams, it was Murray State who came out on top as Loyola lost 2-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The whole series between these two teams were pretty even, and that shined through in today's game as well. The Racers were the first team to get hot as they scored in a run in the second inning off a sacrifice fly. That was the only run on the board until the fourth inning when the Racers made it around the diamond yet again, gaining a two-run lead by the end of the fourth.
However, that wasn't going to stop the Ramblers. Loyola came out strong in the fifth inning, recording two runs, the first was from
Tori Boysen because of a Racer fielding error and the second from
Sophia Remsik, who made it home on a single from
Abbey Jacobsen.
Even though they tied up the game, Murray State pushed for the win. They scored a run of their own in the fifth inning to push them ahead of the Ramblers. Little did both teams know that would be the last run scored in this game, resulting in the 2-3 loss for Loyola.
