CHICAGO (March 13, 2022) – For the second time this spring, the Loyola University Chicago women's golf team will head south to Florida when it sees action at the Spring Break Shootout in Dade City, Fla.
Â
Play at the par-71, 6,056-yard course at the Lake Jovita Golf Club will begin on both Monday and Tuesday with 7:30 a.m. (CT) shotgun starts. Monday will feature the event's opening 36 holes, with final-round action set for Tuesday. Live scoring will be available on
Golfstat.com.
Â
The 16-team field for the two-day event features Loyola, co-hosts Florida Gulf Coast and Western Kentucky, Akron, Albany, Ball State, Daytona State, James Madison, Morehead State, Oakland, Ohio, Seminole State, Stetson, St. John's, and Troy.
Â
Loyola head coach
Carly Werwie will stick with the same starting five that she has run out at the Ramblers' first two events of the spring, a quintet that features senior
Lorenza Martinez, junior
Caroline Dayton, sophomore
Abby Thielbar, and freshmen
Jolie Brochu and
Grace Suter. Freshman
Cate Reisinger will compete as an individual.
Â
The Ramblers will be looking to recapture some of the magic from last year's edition of the Spring Break Shootout, where they shattered the previous 54-hole program record for team score, a mark which was broken again at last month's FAU Paradise Invitational.
Â
Loyola plays in its first of back-to-back events hosted by Missouri Valley Conference rivals March 28-29 at the Diane Daugherty Invitational in St. Charles, Mo.
