LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 30, 2022) – Senior
Jana Rokitta inched closer to the school record in the high jump as the Loyola University Chicago track & field teams wrapped up their outdoor regular season schedule today at the Clark Wood Invitational in Louisville, Ky.
Â
One of four Ramblers to record a new personal best for the afternoon, Rokitta cleared 5-07.25 (1.71m) on her final attempt in the event's third round, strengthening her hold on the number two spot on the program's outdoor record board. The Wuppertal, Germany product's effort from today unofficially moves her into a tie for third on the Missouri Valley Conference's high jump leaderboard.
Â
Just 24 hours removed from putting up a new personal best in the 200m dash, freshman
Petra Cokaric clocked the top 400m dash time of her collegiate career in impressive fashion as she surged to a heat victory in 57.65.
Â
Sophomore
Jayla Johnson, who last week broke the program record in the 100m hurdles on two separate occasions, clocked a time of 14.08 to secure a runner-up finish in her preliminary heat en route to taking sixth (14.14) in the event final. On the men's side of the spiriting events, the freshman pairing of
Isaac Eubanks (11.15) and
Terrence Marfo (11.34) each put up new personal bests in the 100m dash.
Â
Sophomore
Grace Maurer led the charge for the Rambler distance crew, taking home a third-place finish (10:56.53) in the 3,000m dash, where she was followed shortly after by freshman
Aiden Grasse, who landed fifth (11:08.04). Competing in the 1,500m run, senior
Anneka Murrin crossed in 4:30.20 to place sixth.
Â
Loyola will be idle next weekend before it heads to Des Moines, Iowa for the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The 2022 edition of the outdoor league meet will be hosted May 13-15 at Drake Stadium in Iowa's state capital.
