Ramblers Defeat Aces To Move On In MVC Championships

Loyola Softall defeated the University of Evansville 5-0 for its fifth shutout of the season.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (May 11, 2022) – On the hottest day of competition this season, the No. 8 Loyola University Chicago softball team played in the opening round of the Missouri Valley Conference Championships as they played against the No. 8 University of Evansville Aces. After seven innings of play, it was the Ramblers who came out on top, defeating the Aces 5-0 to move on to the next round of the Valley Championships.

HOW IT HAPPENED
From the start of the first inning, the Ramblers had the control. Peyton Pepkowski started in the circle and, with the help of the defense, did a quick 1-2-3 to get themselves up to bat. Once Loyola was at the plate, they could not be stopped. Abbey Jacobsen hit a single so Madison Ebeling could cross home plate for Loyola's first run of the game.

Once they scored one, the Maroon and Gold could not be stopped. Loyola went on to score four more runs, two of which came in the sixth inning, to win the game 5-0 over Evansville and secure its fifth shutout of the season.
