FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (May 26, 2022) – Senior
Kathleen Simms put forth a determined showing in the 10,000m run to lead the Loyola University Chicago women's track & field team on the second day of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field West Preliminary in Fayetteville, Ark.
Â
Making her second consecutive regional appearance in the event, Simms brought down the curtain on a wildly successful 2022 season this evening at John McDonnell Field. The Louisville, Ky. native battled across in 34:37.80 as part of a field that included six of the nation's top 10 times. Running less than two weeks removed from winning a Missouri Valley Conference title in the 5,000m run, tonight's effort closes an outdoor campaign that saw Simms punch her regional ticket at the Mt. SAC Relays, where she posted a time of 33:43.12 to move to second all-time in Loyola history.

Senior
Ilhame Tamrouti closed out a decorated career in the javelin, posting a top toss of 152-03 (46.40m). A two-time MVC champion in the event, the Kampen, Netherlands native wraps up her time in Rogers Park as the school record holder following a mark of 166-06 (50.74m) at last season's NCAA West Preliminary that saw her earn a berth to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Tamrouti is one of just two female field student-athletes in program history to be named a United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) All-American.
Â
Fresh off winning The Valley's long jump title earlier this month, sophomore
Melissa Parrella brought a terrific season of her own to an end in The Natural State. Out of Graz, Austria, Parrella, who ascended up to third all-time in Rambler annals in the event this season, hit on a leap of 19-02.50 (5.85m) on her final attempt of the evening.

Loyola closes out the NCAA West Preliminary on Saturday evening at 8:10 p.m. when senior
