FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (May 28, 2022) – Senior
Claire Hengesbaugh wrapped up a strong 2022 season this evening as the Loyola University Chicago track & field teams closed out competition at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field West Preliminary in Fayetteville, Ark.
Now a two-time regional qualifier for her career, Hengesbaugh saw action in heat two of the 5,000m run. The St. Charles, Ill. native came through with a time of 16:57.39.
Tonight's showing at John McDonnell Field puts the exclamation point on an outstanding campaign for Hengesbaugh that saw her score in three different events at the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She posted a pair of new marks to the program's all-time record boards during the outdoor season, highlighted by a run of 16:02.99 in the 5,000m run at the Mt. SAC Relays, the second fastest time in school history, that would ultimately secure her berth to the NCAA West Preliminary.
