CHICAGO (June 22, 2022) – Loyola University Chicago track & field and cross country senior
Chantz Visse (Solon, Ohio/Solon) has been named Academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced on Wednesday.
A Third Team honoree, Visse, who was named a First Team Academic All-District selection last month, is the fourth Rambler in program history to earn Academic All-America distinction, a club that includes Mike Billish (1993-94), Declan Murray (2013), and
Riley DeMeulenaere (2020-21).
Visse opened his senior year with a terrific cross country season that culminated with him earning First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference honors following a fourth-place finish (24:39.7) at the MVC Championship, the top finish by a Rambler at the league meet since 2017.
The Solon, Ohio native also enjoyed a successful track & field campaign, posting new personal bests in both the 3,000m run (8:28.32) and 5,000m run (14:41.80).
No stranger to being lauded for his academic work, Visse, who double majors in philosophy and global studies, has been recognized in each of the last three seasons on the MVC Scholar-Athlete Teams.
