CHICAGO (July 8, 2022) – Ryan Schwieger (Matthews, N.C./Weddington/Princeton), who exhausted his collegiate eligibility last season, has signed a professional contract with Rasta Vechta in Germany. During the 2021-22 campaign, the 6-foot-7 forward averaged 9.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game in his lone season at Loyola University Chicago after transferring from Princeton.

thRambler in the last six seasons to have played professional basketball and he joins former 2021-22 teammates
Aher Uguak (Edmonton Stingers) and
Lucas Williamson (Los Angeles Clippers) in signing professional contracts.

In helping the Ramblers to a 25-8 overall record, a Missouri Valley Conference tournament championship and a second straight NCAA Tournament appearance, Schwieger scored in double figures off the bench on 13 occasions, three times toping the 20-point plateau. A MVC All-Bench Team selection, the sharpshooter got his Loyola career off to a rousing start, averaging 14.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 2.0 apg through the first four outings of the 2021-22 season.

He erupted for a season-high 24 points, connecting on 9 of his 10 field goal attempts, in Loyola's victory over San Francisco in Salt Lake City on January 6. Schwieger, who scored in double digits off the bench in all three games of the MVC Championship, provided 12.2 ppg and 4.2 rpg, while shooting 57.1 percent (20-for-35) from the field and 57.1 percent (12-for-21) from three-point range, over the final five outings of the year.

Schwieger played his first three seasons at Princeton, with his best year coming in 2019-20, when he tallied 10.7 ppg, 3.0 rpg and 2.8 apg.

Loyola, which has won 20 or more games in five consecutive seasons and has played in three of the last four NCAA tournaments, will begin play as a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference in 2022-23.
