Zolg Signs Pro Contract With Barrus Voru VK In Estonia

Four-year Loyola starter earned AVCA Honorable Mention All-America honors this year

CHICAGO (August 10, 2022) – Former Loyola University Chicago men's volleyball All-American Garrett Zolg (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) has signed a professional contract with Barrus Voru VK in Estonia. A four-time First Team All-Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) selection during his career in Rogers Park, the setter also garnered American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Honorable Mention All-America recognition four times.

Zolg joins a number of former Ramblers in the professional ranks, including Thomas Jaeschke, Jeff Jendryk, Avery Aylsworth and Collin Mahan, among others.

He concluded his collegiate career ranked second in Loyola history in digs (732), fourth in service aces (123) and sixth in assists (3,928). As a freshman in 2018, Zolg burst onto the scene, capturing MIVA Freshman of the Year honors after helping the Ramblers to the regular-season league title. One of the top rookies in the country that year, Zolg became the first Loyola freshman setter since 2008 to dole out 1,000 assists and his 10.32 assists per set average ranked seventh in the nation.

As a sophomore, he ranked second in NCAA Division I-II play with 10.87 assists per set and quarterbacked a Loyola offensive unit that ranked tenth in the country with a .307 hitting percentage. Last season, he became the first player in program annals to lead the club in assists (889), digs (188) and aces (35).
