CHICAGO (August 9, 2022) – One of the all-time greats to wear a Loyola University Chicago uniform, former Rambler men's basketball All-American Cameron Krutwig (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs), has signed a pro contract to play for Blackwater Bossing in the PBA Commissioner's Cup in the Philippines.
Â
Last season, his first in professional basketball, the 6-foot-9 center averaged 7.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game for the Telenet Antwerp Giants in Belgium.
Â
Blackwater Bossing had a successful campaign in 2021-22, reaching the playoffs for the first time since the 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
Â
Krutwig was one of the most decorated players in Loyola history, earning First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference recognition on three occasions, including MVC Player of the Year honors in 2020-21, when he helped lead the Ramblers to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament. As a senior in 2020-21, the big man put up 15.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.1 blocks and 1.1 steals per game on his way to Associated Press Third Team All-America and CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-America status.
Â
The only player to Loyola annals to rank in the school's top ten in scoring, rebounding and assists, Krutwig totaled 1,833 points, 944 rebounds and 373 assists in his four-year career. During that time, he helped the Ramblers to 99 total wins, three MVC regular-season championships, three postseason appearances, including a run to the NCAA Final Four in 2018.
Â
Krutwig's impressive collegiate career put him in elite company in Missouri Valley Conference lore as he joined Oscar Robertson, Larry Bird and Hersey Hawkins as the only players in league history to accumulate over 1,500 points, 800 rebounds and 300 assists.
