CHICAGO – The Loyola Chicago cross country teams will return to action Friday, Oct. 13 at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational. It marks the first time in program history the Ramblers have been invited to Madison to participate in one of the nation's top meets of the year.
The men's championship 8k is slated to begin at 11:40 a.m., while the women's open 6k will follow at 12:20 p.m.
The Rambler men are currently receiving votes in the USTFCCCA National Poll and will face a stacked field, including four of the top-5 teams in the country, 22 teams ranked in the top-30, and another seven teams receiving votes.
Loyola's women will battle for a team title in the women's open.
Last time out, the Loyola men were led by
Chris Devaney at the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational. He finished third individually helping the Ramblers to fourth overall as a team. The Ramblers beat then-nationally ranked No. 20 Tulsa and No. 23 Ole Miss in the team standings.
Devaney took home Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week honors following the race, while
Jake Phillips earned his first A10 Rookie of the Week nod. Phillips ran a personal record time of 24:16.1 place fourth in the Rambler line-up.
The Rambler women were led by
Delia McDade-Clay at the Lakefront Invite. She clocked a time of 21:08.3, while
Eileen Seebon placed second on the Loyola leaderboard with a PR of 21:17.2.
Julia Isham also debuted for the Ramblers with a PR and rounded out the top-five.
