CHICAGO (Oct. 13, 2023) – The Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team looks to extend its unbeaten streak to three matches as it welcomes No. 25 Saint Louis to Loyola Soccer Park tomorrow (Oct. 14).
WHEN AND WHERE
The two Atlantic 10 rivals will take the field tomorrow (Oct. 13) at Hoyne Field. Kick is slated for 3 p.m. CT.
PROMOTION

NOTES
- After playing its last two matches on the road, Loyola Chicago returns to the friendly confines of Loyola Soccer Park this Saturday as it plays host to No. 25 Saint Louis.
- Saturday will be a rematch of the dramatic 2022 Atlantic 10 Tournament finale in which SLU edged the 'Blers after a penalty kick shootout.
- Road warriors Loyola, with a 4-0-2 road record, return home after going 1-0-1 this past week.
- In Philly on Wednesday, LUC blanked La Salle, 3-0, before scoring three unanswered goals against Dayton to earn a 3-3 draw at Baujan Field on Saturday.
- The Ramblers enter Saturday with three A-10 POTW nods thus far in 2023: Freshman forward Petar Janjic has been tabbed the A-10's Rookie of the Week twice (weeks three and four) while senior forward Oscar Dueso was named the week four A-10 Offensive Player of the Week.
- Following Saturday, Loyola Chicago has three matches left on its regular season slate of action.
- SLU will be the Ramblers' first ranked foe of the season.
- An impressive 12 separate Ramblers have recorded a goal while another 12 have at least one assist this year.
- With just 12 goals allowed thus far, Loyola holds the No. 3 spot in the league in GA (1.09 pg).
- On the opposite side of the field, Loyola Chicago averages 2.273 goals per-game, leading the conference.
- The squad paces the A-10 and is fourth in the NCAA's ranking of shots per-game with 17.73. Oscar Dueso leads the team with 32.
- Nationally, the team is sixth in shots on-goal per-game (7.27).
- Dueso (2.91 pg) and Torrellas (2.56 pg) are eighth and tenth, respectively, in the A-10's top shooters.
- Noel Hansson, a defender, leads the team in minutes played with 953. He's missed just 37 minutes of action.
- LUC is out-scoring its foes, 25-12.
- The team is also out-shooting opponents, 195-90. The Ramblers have out-shot every foe, besides Dayton, thus far.
- LUC leads the A-10 in assists (26), goals (25), points (76), and is second in shots (195).
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- The No. 25 Billikens have enjoyed an unbeaten streak of eight games (two draws, six wins) since Sept. 8 and are the No.1 team in the A-10.
- The team notched its fourth-straight win this past Tuesday with a 3-1 triumph over Central Arkansas.
- Saint Louis has collected six A-10 weekly honors, including this past week's rookie and defensive player of the week nods, thus far.
- CJ Coppola paces the unit's attack with five goals and one assist (11 points).
- Keepers Mason Hart and Jeremi Abonnel have split time between the pipes.
THE HISTORY
- In an all-time series that dates to 1983, Loyola trails SLU, 1-7-1.
- The Ramblers last win over the Billikens came in 1996 - a 2-1 road win.
- Last season in the A-10 Tournament finale on Nov. 13, No. 4 seed Loyola played to a scoreless draw at No. 1 seed Saint Louis before falling 3-2 in penalty kicks against the 20th-ranked Billikens at Hermann Stadium. Loyola didn't allow a goal in three tournament contests (290 minutes), finishing runner-up in the program's first season as an A-10 member.
- The two squads met during the regular season as well on Oct. 1. A game-deciding own goal handed Saint Louis a 2-1 victory with Loyola University Chicago's halftime lead slipping away. Oscar Dueso scored for Loyola in the 13th minute.
LOOKING AHEAD
Following Saturday, Loyola will hit the road once more in the regular season as it takes on Rhode Island next Saturday (Oct. 21). Kick off is set for 6 p.m. CT in Kingston, R.I.
