MADISON, Wis. – The Ramblers made their first program appearance at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational Friday morning.
Chris Devaney led the Loyola Chicago men placing 22
nd individually in a stacked field that saw four of the top-five teams in the country, 22 teams ranked in the nation's top-30, and another seven teams receiving votes.
The Rambler men placed 29
th as a squad beating No. 27 NC State. They also beat Portland, Tulsa, Utah State, and Ole Miss who are all receiving votes in the poll and were just 24 points shy of beating No. 19 Florida State.
The Rambler women took sixth in a field of 13 teams in the women's open 6k and were led by
Grace Kuhn who took 16
th overall.
In the men's race, Devaney posted a time of 23:53.3 to lead the pack and soar to a top-25 time in the meet.
Jason Clayton came in shortly after for second on the Loyola leaderboards with a time of 24:30.9, while
François Guilhot was on his heels clocking 24:39.6 for a new personal record.
Rounding out the top-five for the Ramblers was
Cael Mulholland and
Gabe Smit. Mulholland continues to impress in his debut season with a time of 24:49.3, while Smit came in at 24:56.7 for Loyola.
In the women's race, Kuhn led the pack with a time of 21:58.2, smashing her PR by nearly 40 seconds and placing 16
th overall.
Delia McDade-Clay landed in the top-30 with a time of 22:17.6 taking second for Loyola.
Coming in at No. 34 and No. 35 were
Julia Isham and
Grace Jostock, respectively. Isham clocked a time of 22:22.9, while Jostock barely trailed at 22:23.7.
Eileen Seebon tallied the final points for the Ramblers with a time of 22:44.4 finishing fifth in the team standings.
The Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational wrapped up regular season competition for the Ramblers. Loyola will head to Dayton, Ohio in two weeks to compete for another pair of team titles. The Atlantic 10 Championships are set for Oct. 28.
