CHICAGO -- The Loyola University Chicago women's volleyball team brings its 10-match winning streak into the home stretch of the regular season as the as the Ramblers welcome Duquesne to Chicago this Friday and Saturday. First serve is set for 6 p.m. on Friday before concluding with a 2 p.m. match Saturday.
Bree Borum notched her first-career triple-double and Loyola's first triple-double since 2013 when the setter posted 30 assists, 10 digs and a career-high 10 kills against DePaul. The setter followed it up with her second triple-double of the year, recording 31 assists, 12 digs and 10 kills against Dayton on Sept. 22. Borum's sister, Josi (Youngstown State) is currently third in NCAA Division I volleyball with four triple-doubles this year.
Emily Banitt is looking to become the third Rambler this year to surpass 1,000 career kills. Entering Tuesday's contest, Banitt has 966Â career kills with six matches remaining in the regular season.
Addie Barnes became the 11th member of Loyola's 1,000-kill club with her 16-kill performance against Dayton on Sept. 23.
Taylor Venuto joined Barnes in the 1,000-kill club with a five-kill effort against Saint Louis on Oct. 3 to become the 12th player to earn the recognition.
Taylor Venuto became the fourth Rambler to earn weekly accolades from the Atlantic 10 Conference as the middle blocker was named A-10 Player of the Week on Monday (Oct. 23). Venuto had a nearly perfect weekend on the attack, recording just one error over a pair of matches and finishing the week with a .704 hitting percentage. Venuto had a team-leading 20 kills (3.33 per set) while leading the blocking effort with 1.17 blocks per set (7 total).
The Ramblers have dropped just one set in the month of October and have won 28 out of the last 29 sets played.
Loyola picked up its first ranked win in almost two decades in the team's first tournament of the season when the Ramblers defeated No. 16 Purdue, 3-2. It was Loyola's first win over a ranked opponent since Sept. 14, 2004 when the Ramblers took down No. 9 Illinois, 3-2, in Champaign.
