Maroon and Gold to Battle for A-10 Seeding, end Regular Season vs. Fordham at Home

The 'Blers are set to host the Rams tomorrow at 2 p.m.

CHICAGO (Oct. 27, 2023) – In a battle for Atlantic 10 Tournament seeding, Loyola University Chicago ends its regular season tomorrow (Oct. 28) as it takes on Fordham in Rogers Park.

WHEN AND WHERE
Kick off is slated for 2 p.m. Loyola Soccer Park.

HOW TO FOLLOW  
The match will stream live to ESPN+ with Scott Sudikoff and Loyola Hall of Famer, Jack Cannon, on the call. Fans can also follow the live stats free of charge.

NOTES
  • Loyola Chicago ends the 2023 regular season slate as it plays host to the Bronx's Fordham Rams this Saturday at home.
  • Last Saturday, the 'Blers took home a 0-0 draw against Rhode Island on the road.
  • With the point in league play, the Ramblers clinched their spot in the upcoming A-10 Tournament, bring their point season total to 12.
  • With a win over Fordham and some chaos at the top of the A-10's standings, LUC has the potential of hosting at least the quarterfinal round at Loyola Soccer Park.
  • The Ramblers enter Saturday with three A-10 POTW nods thus far in 2023: Freshman forward Petar Janjic has been tabbed the A-10's Rookie of the Week twice (weeks three and four) while senior forward Oscar Dueso was named the week four A-10 Offensive Player of the Week.
  • An impressive 12 separate Ramblers have recorded a goal while another 14 have at least one assist this year.
  • With just 13 goals allowed thus far, Loyola holds the No. 3 spot in the league in GA (1.00 pg).
  • On the opposite side of the field, Loyola Chicago averages 2.154 goals per-game, leading the conference.
  • The squad is second in the A-10 and is fifth in the NCAA's ranking of shots per-game with 16.92. Oscar Dueso leads the team with 35.
  • Nationally, the team is 10th in shots on-goal per-game (6.85).
  • Dueso (2.69 pg) and Marc Torrellas (2.46 pg) are eighth and tenth, respectively, in the A-10's top shooters.
  • Noel Hansson, a defender, leads the team in minutes played with 1,133. He's missed just 37 minutes of action.
  • LUC is out-scoring its foes, 28-13.
  • The team is also out-shooting opponents, 220-102. The Ramblers have out-shot every foe, besides Dayton, thus far.
  • LUC leads the A-10 in assists (29), goals (28), and points (85).
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
  • With an overall record of 6-2-7 and a league record of 3-2-2, the Rams enter Saturday after most recently drawing with Princeton, 0-0.
  • Prior to that, Fordham posted three-straight 1-1 draws against Duquesne, UMass, and then No. 18 Hofstra.
  • The team's most recent A-10 win came on Oct. 4 as the squad downed Saint Joseph's, 2-1.
  • Florian Deletioglu paces the team's attack with seven goals, two assists, and 16 points.
  • Carter Abbott is Fordham's keeper. He's notched 41 saves while allowing 13 thus far.
THE HISTORY
  • The two teams have met just twice prior with both meetings going Loyola Chicago's way.
  • The programs first met in 2015 at Loyola Soccer Park. Loyola won the match, 2-1, behind an own goal and a strike to the near post from Matthieu Braem.
    • LUC would go on to finish 2015 10-4-5 but fell to SIUE in the MVC Semifinals.
  • In the most recent matchup on Oct. 29, 2022 (a year and day ago), goals from Dueso, Billy Hency, and Julian Cisneros propelled the Ramblers to a 3-2 win in the Bronx.
LOOKING AHEAD
Following Saturday, Loyola Chicago will wait and see how the rest of the league fares in the final regular season Saturday as it hopes for the highest seeding possible in the A-10 Tournament.
