CHICAGO – Loyola Chicago cross country is headed to Ohio for the 2023 Atlantic 10 Championships Saturday morning hosted by Dayton. The men's 8k will get started at 9 a.m. CT, with the women to follow at 9:50 a.m. CT.
This year's event will be streamed on ESPN+ and live results will be available to follow.
Both the Rambler squads look to defend their 2022 team titles after a competitive slate of regular season action.
The 2023 success kicked off with second-place showings by both teams at the Notre Dame National Catholic Invite. The women were led by
Grace Kuhn who placed eighth, while
Grace Jostock,
Eileen Seebon, and
Lily Mataway finished inside the top-20.
Jason Clayton led the men's pack with a seventh-place finish.
Gabe Smit,
Cael Mulholland, and
Fionn Harrington swept 10
th through 12
th, respectively, while
Jake Phillips also landed in the top-20.
Seebon and Mulholland swept A10 Rookie of the Week accolades for their Loyola debuts at Notre Dame.
Loyola returned to the north side two weeks later to host the 44
th annual Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational. The Ramblers took on a combined 10 nationally ranked programs, and the men surged to a fourth-place finish beating then No. 20 Tulsa and No. 23 Ole Miss.
Chris Devaney placed third individually in the men's 8k to take home his first A10 Performer of the Week award. Phillips led the freshman runners with a new personal best time and collected Rookie of the Week honors.
Delia McDade-Clay paced the Rambler women with the team's top time at the Lakefront. Seebon trailed behind for second on the team with a new PR clocked in her second straight race for Loyola.
The regular season was capped with Loyola's first ever appearance at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational. The Rambler men were receiving votes in the USTFCCCA National Poll headed into the meet and faced a stacked field, including four of the top-five teams in the country, 22 teams ranked in the top-30, and another seven teams who were also receiving votes.
Devaney led Loyola placing 22
nd in the men's 8k earning his second A10 Performer of the Week nod. The Rambler men beat No. 27 NC State in the team standings, along with Tulsa, Utah State, and Ole Miss who were receiving votes.
For the women, Kuhn led the pack taking 16
th with a new PR by over 40 seconds. McDade-Clay also landed in the top-30 and took second in the Rambler standings.
