CHICAGO – The Loyola Chicago women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to four in a row Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 sweep over George Washington inside Gentile Arena.
Â
The Ramblers dominated the service line today, owning a 12-3 advantage in service aces.
Bree Borum set a season high with five aces, falling one ace shy of matching her career best. Five different Ramblers recorded an ace in the match.
Karlie McNabb had a team-high 10 kills while
Taylor Venuto had six kills on an effective .455 hitting percentage.

Quoting Coach Berkley
"Proud of the team for another team win," said head coach
Amanda Berkley. "It's nice to get a sweep and our first win at home. I thought our serving was very good today. We served tough and that really helped us during the match."

How It Happened
Trailing 11-9 in the opening set, Loyola used a 7-2 run to regain the advantage at 16-13. Two aces helped spur the run, one by
Olivia Lovett and the other by Borum. The Ramblers would maintain at least a two-point lead for the remainder of the set, with
Emily Banitt connecting on the final kill of the set to give the Ramblers the 25-22 opening-set victory.
Â
The second set was neck-and-neck all the way up to the two teams being tied 18-all. It was all Loyola down the stretch, however, as a 7-1 run to end the set gave Loyola the 25-19 victory and a 2-0 lead in the match. As it was throughout the match, serving was key for the Ramblers in the closing points, with Borum serving up a pair of aces, including on set point.
Â
Loyola owned a 10-8 lead in the third set before a 7-0 run put the set, and match, out of reach.
Addie Barnes added to the Loyola ace tally to extend the lead to 13-8 before Borum and McNabb tallied a pair of kills each to push the advantage to 17-8. Loyola cruised down the stretch to easily claim the 25-17 victory and 3-0 sweep.
Â
Loyola and George Washington round out the weekend series with a Sunday afternoon match. First serve is set for 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
