CHICAGO – The Loyola Chicago women's volleyball team continued its hot streak Sunday, sweeping George Washington inside Gentile Arena. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Ramblers, with the last four coming via 3-0 sweeps.
Â
Karlie McNabb and
Emily Banitt reached double digits in kills with 11 and 10, respectively, while
Bree Borum dished out another double-double with 32 aces, 13 digs while chipping in eight kills.
Olivia Lovett anchored the back line with a match-high 14 digs.
Â
Quoting Coach Berkley
"I'm proud of the team for a great team win today," said head coach
Amanda Berkley. "I think it was nice in the second set to get
Jordan Bruckner,
Olivia Gardner and Avery DeBlieck in and I think they did a nice job.
Kaley Board also did a great job with two attempts and two kills. But the team did a really nice job serving again and controlling our side. It felt a little bit better today."

How it Happened
George Washington hung with the Ramblers in the opening stages of the first set, but a kill by
Anna Feldkamp spurred a 6-0 Loyola run to put the Ramblers in front, 25-13. One of Loyola's eight aces in the match came during the run off the serve of
Addie Barnes. Board gave Loyola set point with her first kill of the match and Lovett served up an ace to cap the 25-16 decision.
Â
It was all Loyola in the second set, with the Ramblers jumping out to a 10-5 lead and leading the rest of the way. Four of Loyola's freshmen all got action in the second set as the Ramblers limited the Revolutionaries to a .097 hitting percentage in the second frame. Loyola cruised to a 25-13 victory to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
Â
The tightest set of the day came in the third as Loyola edged George Washington, 25-23. Loyola opened the set with the first four points, with the final three points all coming via Borum aces. George Washington would battle back, tying the score at 21-all, prompting a Loyola timeout. The two teams would be tied at 22-all and 23-all before a Banitt kill gave Loyola match point. Barnes and
Taylor Venuto teamed up for a block on the pin to seal the set, and match, in Loyola's favor.
Â
Loyola starts a four-match roadtrip next weekend with a pair of matches at George Mason on Oct. 20-21.
