STILLWATER, Okla. –
Chris Devaney clinched an NCAA Championship berth Friday morning in the NCAA Midwest Cross Country Regional. He placed 11
th individually with a time of 30:27.7, helping the Rambler men to a fourth-place team finish. The Rambler women took ninth in a 32-team field.
The fourth-place finish by the men ties their best ever finish at Regionals, which they achieved last season.
Five Ramblers also posted personal records, while three took home All-Region honors. Devaney,
François Guilhot, and
Cael Mulholland are the first trio of Ramblers to earn All-Region accolades in the same season. Mulholland is also the first true freshman to nab the honor in program history.
Guilhot landed 21
st with a personal record time of 31:07.1, while Mulholland took 24
th with a PR and time of 31:18.3.
Rounding out the Rambler top-five was
Woody Jerome (31:33.8) in 35th place, and
Gabe Smit (31:40.6) in 40
th. Jerome's time also goes down as a PR.
Grace Kuhn landed just outside the women's top-25 in 27
th. She clocked a new PR with a time of 21:24.3 to lead the Ramblers.
Freshman runner
Julia Isham took second on the team leaderboards coming in 54
th with a PR of 21:46.6. On her heels,
Delia McDade-Clay crossed the line in 57
th place. She posted a time of 21:50.1.
The final two to tally points for Loyola were
Grace Jostock (22:02.0) and
Ali Gillooly (22:14.0).
Devaney will head down to Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday, Nov. 18 for the NCAA Championships.
