WASHINGTON – Loyola University Chicago graduate student Hayden Healey has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Healey earned the honor following a standout debut for the Maroon and Gold at the National Catholic Invitational on Friday in South Bend, Ind. Competing in his first race for Loyola, the newcomer paced the Ramblers in the men's 8K, posting a personal-best time of 24:14.6 to finish sixth overall. His effort helped propel Loyola to a second-place team finish at the event, hosted by Notre Dame at the Burke Golf Course.
The Loyola women's team also impressed, placing fourth in the team standings.
Loyola returns to action on Friday, Oct. 3, when it hosts the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational at the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course in Chicago.
