CHICAGO – The Loyola University Chicago women's volleyball team set a new program record of 15-straight victories after sweeping Rhode Island, 25-17, 25-10, 25-13, Friday night inside Gentile Arena. The Ramblers forced the Rams to a measly .106 hitting percentage while Loyola hit .519.
"I thought it was a very good offensive match for us," said head Loyola coach
Amanda Berkley. "I think the team did a really nice job of being available, digging to target and, putting the ball away. We had a really balanced offense and we were able to capitalize on some opportunities that they gave us,"
How It Happened
The two teams played a fairly even first set with the Rams
(4-25,1-16 A10) hitting .185 with 11 kills. URI even came within two points at 5-7, Loyola. However, the Ramblers
(17-11,15-2 A10) found their pace quickly and took off on a 5-1 run to inflate their lead to 20-12.

Loyola's offensive rhythm was on full display in the second set as the squad raced out of the gates on a 16-4 run, including three-straight kills from Barnes, on the team's fifth, sixth and seventh points. The Rams struggled to keep up as the 'Blers ended the set, 25-10, after

After starting the third and final set on a 12-6 run, the Maroon and Gold exploded on a 7-0 run to take a 19-6 advantage. URI posted a 5-1 run to make the score 21-12, Loyola, but the 'Blers shook it off quickly. The Ramblers finished the night on a 4-1 run while Maddie Norris' ace put a bow on the dominant evening.
Inside the Box Score
- Feldkamp led the team's offensive efforts with 10 kills on 15 swings.
- Bree Borum racked up 28 set assists as she inches closer to 2,000 through her career.
- Barnes had a match-high .667 hit percentage after registering eight kills on 12 swings. She also had a match-high three aces and 11.5 points.
- Taylor Venuto led at the net with a pair of block assists and one solo.
- Olivia Lovett led on defense with nine digs.
Up Next
The two teams will meet tomorrow (Nov. 11) for a rematch to conclude on Senior Weekend. First serve is set for 2 p.m. inside Gentile Arena as the Ramblers wrap regular season before the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
"We're going to have to shore up some serving for sure - I think that's going to be the biggest focus. I think offensively, if we can do the things we did, tonight, we'll have another successful day tomorrow. But serving is something we can improve."
