CHICAGO (Nov. 3, 2023) – The Atlantic 10 Tournament is here, and the No. 3 seeded Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team is gearing up to host No. 6 Dayton this Saturday in the quarterfinal round.

NOTES
- The Atlantic 10 Tournament is here! The Ramblers earned the No. 3 seed in the single elimination tournament after beating Fordham, 1-0, last Saturday at Hoyne. LUC's 15 points are an improvement from 2022 when the team ended with 12.
- With just moments left on the clock, it looked as if the Ramblers' battle with the Rams would end in a 0-0 draw. But a cross from Jack McFeely and a beautiful header from Markus Maurer propelled the team to victory in the 85th minute.
- The team who wins the quarterfinal, semifinal, and championship matches of the A-10 Tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
- The Ramblers haven't missed a postseason berth since 2009, extending its streak to 13-straight conference tournaments (Horizon League, Missouri Valley, and A-10).
- The squad will look to win it all after suffering a heartbreaking loss to Saint Louis in last season's A-10 Tournament finale.
- The team is 2-0-1 in A-10 Tournament matches.
- The Ramblers ended the year with four A-10 POTW nods: Freshman forward Petar Janjic has been tabbed the A-10's Rookie of the Week twice (weeks three and four) while senior forward Oscar Dueso was named the week four A-10 Offensive Player of the Week. Last week, keeper Aidan Crawford raked in the final A-10 Defensive Player of the Week plaudit after shutting out Fordham.
- An impressive 12 separate Ramblers have recorded a goal while another 14 have at least one assist this year.
- With just 13 goals allowed thus far, Loyola holds the No. 2 spot in the league in GA (.93 pg).
- On the opposite side of the field, Loyola Chicago averages 2.071 goals per-game, leading the conference.
- The squad is second in the A-10 and sixth in the NCAA's ranking of shots per-game with 16.29. Oscar Dueso leads the team with 36.
- Nationally, the team is tied for 11th in shutout percentage (.500).
- Dueso (2.57 pg) is ranked ninth in the A-10's top shooters.
- Noel Hansson, a defender, leads the team in minutes played with 1,233. He's missed just 37 minutes of action.
- LUC is out-scoring its foes, 29-13.
- The team is also out-shooting opponents, 228-113. The Ramblers have out-shot every foe, besides Dayton and Fordham, thus far.
- LUC leads the A-10 in assists (2.143 pg), goals (2.071 pg), and points (88).
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- The Flyers earned the No. 6 seed in the A-10 Tournament after going 6-6-5 and 3-1-4 in league matches.
- Dayton's three wins and four draws added up to 13 league points, one more point than the Flyer's 2022 season total.
- Dayton ended the regular season on an eight-match unbeaten streak with their last loss coming on Sept. 23 - a 1-0 defeat via Saint Joseph's.
- Joseph Melto Quiah leads the team with 13 points on four goals and five assists while senior Kenji Mboma Dem has 12 points on five goals. Senior goalkeeper Dario Caetano has four shutouts and 49 saves in 17 starts.
THE HISTORY
- In an all-time series that dates to 1987, Loyola trails Dayton, 2-5-2.
- The Ramblers and Flyers previously this season on Oct. 7 in Dayton. The match was an instant classic that ended in a 3-3 draw, tying for the team's highest scoring match this season (LUC beat DePaul, 4-2, on Sept. 19).
- Loyola battled back from a 3-0 deficit and scored a trio of unanswered goals to earn a road draw. John Gatesgot the scoring started in the 45th minute before Marc Torrellas and Julian Cisneros added goals in the 60th and 76th minutes.
- Last season, with Dayton ranked No. 16, the two battled to a 0-0 draw on Oct. 8, 2022.
