Ramblers Prepare for EIU Panthers Saturday

Tip-off against EIU is set for noon inside Gentile Arena

Tipping off
After knocking off Northwestern this week, the Loyola University Chicago women's basketball team has its sights set on Eastern Illinois this Saturday. Tip-off is set for noon inside Gentile Arena with the game broadcasting on ESPN+.

  • Loyola Chicago is coming off its first-ever win over the Wildcats - a 73-68 win in Evanston this past Wednesday. It had lost the previous 25 meetings.

  • Tanin posted a double-double in two straight games for Loyola (points-rebounds) - against Bradley and Brown. She's scored in double-digits in all but three games for Loyola (Chicago State, DePaul, an NU).
  • Entering Sunday, the 'Blers have three student-athletes averaging double-digit points: Tanin (11.0), Galanopoulos (14.4), and Alyssa Fisher (11.7).
  • The team ranks No. 2 in the Atlantic 10 3-point FG percentage, shooting the deep ball at a 0.364 clip.
  • Kira Chivers and Galanopoulos pace the league in 3-point field goal percentage with an average of .700 and .545, respectively.
2023-24 Rambler Bites
  • Seven letterwinners return to the roster, including three starters. The Ramblers welcome six newcomers, including two freshman and four transfers.
  • In addition to new players, Loyola added assistant coach Simon Harris and assistant coach Jenna Rubino-McCormick to the program in the off-season.
  • Head coach Allison Guth is in her second season at the helm of Loyola. She enters her eighth year as a head coach after spending the first six seasons at Yale.
Scouting The Eastern Illinois Panthers
  • The Panthers own a 1-5 record with their sole win coming over Valparaiso on Nov. 12. The Panthers won, 75-62, at home.
  • Most recently, EIU fell in overtime, 81-78, to New Mexico on the road. Macy McGlone had 29 points and 14 rebounds for her second consecutive double-double to lead the Panthers.
  • McGlone averages 16.3 ppg and 9.3 rpg to lead the team on offense and defense. She's made 42 of her 74 attempts from the field thus far for an average of 57-percent. She averages 32.8 minutes on the floor for EIU.
All-Time Against EIU
With the series tied at 10-10, one program will take control of the all-time series after Saturday. Last season, the pair met on Nov. 20, 2023, in Charleston, Ill.. EIU won that game, 83-73, but Loyola had won the prior four-straight meetings. Last year, Sophia Nolan scored a career-high 19 points to lead four Ramblers in double digits at Lantz Arena.

Last Time Out
The Loyola University Chicago led wire-to-wire in its 73-68 takedown of Northwestern Wednesday at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The win marked the Ramblers' first-ever against their crosstown foes, snapping a 25-game losing streak to the Wildcats.
