Ramblers Split Squads at GVSU Big Meet, Windy City Invitational

Loyola will be in action Friday and Saturday at a pair of meets

CHICAGO (February 9, 2023) – The Loyola track & field team is back in action this weekend at a pair of meets. The Ramblers will be splitting the squad up, with the majority of the team running at the GVSU Big Meet on Friday while a smaller contingent is set to compete at the Windy City Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Sixteen women and 11 men will head to Grand Valley State Friday for the GVSU Big Meet, with the Ramblers heavily featured in the mid-distance and distance events. The men's 5000m run will open the competition at 7:30 a.m. (CT), with Loyola having competitors in action throughout the day until the final event of the night, the men's 3000m at 7:30 p.m. (CT).

Eight Ramblers in total, two women and six men, will stay back in Chicago to compete on Saturday at the Windy City Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin at Gately Park on the south side of the city.

Grace Jostock and Nora Wollen will open the running at 1:30 p.m. with the women's 3000m run. Chris Devaney, Ryan Martins and Fionn Harrington will follow in the men's 3000m. After Jason Clayton and Gabe Smit compete in the men's mile, Miguel Abaitua will round out the action at 3:20 p.m. in the men's 800m.

Last time out at the Indiana Relays, Harrington moved into ninth-place on the Loyola all-time performance list in the men's 3000m with a time of 8:16.52. Jostock excelled in the women's edition of the event, setting a new PR by over 40 seconds.
