CHICAGO (April 23, 2022) – Another series sweep came for the Loyola softball team Sunday afternoon. Rhode Island put the first run on the board, but Loyola rallied for a 6-2 win. With the victory, the Ramblers improve to 20-21 overall and 13-6 in A-10 play.
The Rams plated one run in the top of the first after a leadoff walk. Zingerman hit an RBI single to center for the 1-0 edge.
Loyola responded with six unanswered runs. The tying run crossed home in second inning. With two outs,
Nova Sinskul singled to left plating
Sydney Barnett to knot the game.
The Ramblers then tallied three more in the third.
Haley Wallace placed the ball up the middle for two RBI, while
Tori Boysen singled in Barnett for the 4-1 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth,
Ava Bieneman and
Amelia Thomas hit back-to-back singles for runs five and six, while URI added one more in the top of the sixth. The late rally attempt fell short, and the Ramblers hung on for the win, 6-2.

- Following the sweep, the Ramblers now have 20 wins, which is the most in a single-season for head coach
Alicia Abbott.
- It also marks the first time with 20 or more wins since 2019 when the Ramblers finished 25-25.

- This is the fifth game of the year Loyola has recorded 10 or more hits.
- Bieneman went 2-for-2 with an RBI after entering the game as a pinch hitter.

- Barnett led the game with two runs scored, while Wallace had a game-high two RBI.
